My review of this book, a hybrid of poetry and prose, is up at PANK:
Domestication Handbook, not appearing, by its thickness (slender) or its cover (of bloodied and pounded meat arranged in symmetry) to be really a handbook on some aspect of farming, is in fact a book of finest pins. I took my time with it, and still it works into me, and I must pause, look up from the sentences, and pull them back out one by one to examine.
I am attracted to such hybrids, in fact I would only make them if I didnt feel finally as you do that more is needed to inhabit a work. Much more.
I am in love with all those who can try such hybridities. I think it’s a brave way to push at the boundaries of what writing can do. Even if I didn’t feel there was enough scope to this work, I still thought it was expertly written, stunning in parts, and really worth reading.
Your reviews are small jewels, Helen.
This book sounds intriguing…
Thanks Karen, all I hope is to get people interested, and to do the books justice.
