Prepare the Terrain…I like that. I myself am terribly disorganised and tend to fly into things after much delay and distraction. Perhaps prep would help me, if I could ever get to grips with the method.

Lovely quiet unfurling thoughts. I am working on new stuff now and as always my motto is Prepare the Terrain which for me means clarity of mind and concentrated energy. An empty house, quiet. I can’t theorise other than that. I don’t even like to think too hard initially, just let the current take hold. I love this best.

When I was but nine years-old, I asked my father what “inner-space” was…he asked me if I knew about outer-space. I anwered that I did…he suggested, not so kindly, that if I knew about outer-space, I could figure-out what inner-space is all by myself.

My mc is an art student so I’m reminding myself of those visual rules. Amazing how much they apply to narrative.

Just gorgeous. The distance you describe, the desire to breach it, hoping artifice does not obstruct but instead conveys. The images, the prose, the question–all just gorgeous.

Yesterday reading Arnheim’s “Art and Visual Perception–A Psychology of the Creative Eye”, I kept this thought for my girl : Movement or motion implies a change in the condition of the environment, and a change may require reaction. May mean the approach of a friend, danger or desirable prey.
